Overview

A reusable multi-cloud Disaster Recovery (DR) and backup architecture utilizing Velero and Terraform across major cloud platforms (DigitalOcean DOKS, AWS EKS, GCP GKE, and Azure AKS).

It provides tested blueprints to automate persistent volume snapshots, cluster resource backup schedules, and cross-cloud workload restore drills.

Architectural Highlights

  • Multi-Cloud Target Modules:
    • digitalocean/: Complete production deployment with DigitalOcean Spaces object storage backends.
    • aws/: S3 bucket target, IAM OIDC roles with least-privilege KMS encryption.
    • gcp/: Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and Workload Identity configuration.
    • azure/: Azure Blob Storage integration with managed identity authentication.
  • Declarative DR Schedules: Automated daily and hourly backup schedules with retention policies tuned for critical stateful database workloads and config maps.
  • Cross-Cluster Restoration: Validated disaster recovery procedures enabling restoration of entire namespaces from one cloud provider into another during provider-level outages.
